From The Rector's Desk

From the Rector’s Desk – 7 May 2020 – 4th Thursday after Easter

Greetings in the Name of the Risen Christ!

Our new Website is up and running and our merged Facebook, Instagram and Twitter should be in full swing today. I remind you to like and share so that we can build our community.

These are exciting times and a great challenge to our lifestyle. We continue to draw on our Diocesan Ministry Plan to guide our actions through this time.

Today we look at the Second Mark of Mission:

Committed to encourage and foster a growing life in the Spirit of all in the church.

  • Life giving prayer and worship

“Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” (Mark 11:24) “God is spirit, and his worshippers must worship in spirit and truth: (John 4”24)

I remind you that we meet to pray at 08h00 and 16h00 daily, we gather on ZOOM or wherever they are, and we follow a systematic reading of the scriptures to hear from God. I encourage you to submit your prayer requests on WhatApp to 0823704702 0r 0319162777. Prayers will remain confidential ( if you so wish) but it is critical that we pray into the lives of the people of God, which we can only do if we hear from you.

Worship is normally thought of as singing and this is our opportunity to broaden our concept of what worship is. Worship comes form the word WORTH, it is giving God the place of superiority in our lives, submitting to Him and living for His purposes.

A growing life in the Spirit will only come from an increased time spent in the word, of God. We will continue to make resources available to you.

I want to conclude this morning by reminding us that the purpose of Church is not to take the position of power in the world. We are not called to take power over, but we are to be a servant people, working from the “bottom up.” Living a fully human experience, living in the joy of the Lord, not the fear of our circumstances.

There is only one way to grow in the Spirit, and that is to feed yourself spiritually. Develop a habit of prayer and bible reading. We have given you the tools to do this!

Be assured of my prayers.
